Italian textile machinery manufacturer will enter Ethiopia
The establishment of a partnership between the Italian Textile Machinery Manufacturers Association (ACIMIT) and the Ethiopian consulting firm BCAD Consulting Management PLC will help promote the entry of Italian textile technology into Ethiopia, and this partnership is now beginning to play its part.
In July last year, the Italian Textile Machinery Manufacturers Association sent an institutional task force to Addis Ababa to lay the foundation for strengthening the links between Italian machinery manufacturers and Ethiopian textile companies.
In fact, the partnership with the domestic consulting firm BCAD promoted the application of Italian technology in the textile industry. The agreement stipulates that BCAD will act as a catalyst for Ethiopian companies to promote cooperation between Italian companies and government agencies, training institutions and Ethiopian textile operators.
Italy’s exports to Ethiopia are still small, about 2 million euros in 2012, but it seems to have grown over the past few years.
ACIMIT represents an industry, including about 300 manufacturers (employing nearly 12,000 people), and the output machinery is worth about 2.4 billion euros, of which 80% is exported. Italian machinery is sold in about 130 countries around the world.
